Gradient was established in July 2004 by two guys who love to kayak and wanted to share their passion for paddling in their hometown. 

Our genesis came from teaching beginning kayak classes and roll clinics at the City of Cody's Paul Stock Aquatics & Recreation Center, which we continue today. Students regularly asked us, "Where can I get my hands on my own equipment?" Not having a viable boating source in the region, we decided to rent an old barn, hang out our shingle and throw open our doors! Since that time, Gradient has become the most comprehensive paddlesports retailer and kayak school in Northwest Wyoming.

Located just outside the East entrance to Yellowstone National Park, Cody is truly a hidden gem for outdoor pursuits in all forms. Paddlesports are certainly no exception and the play in the area offers boaters everything from world-class, multi-day whitewater to short, after-work runs, or serene mountain lakes and desert reservoirs. There truly is something for everyone and every ability!

You'll find our little shingle at an historic blacksmith shop and livery along the Buffalo Bill Village boardwalk at the corner of East Sheridan just before you head up the Greybull Highway hill (if you're heading East through town, that is). Gradient still retains a rustic, local feel while offering paddling equipment for today's Wild West adventures.
